Joint Meeting of the Bristol Heart Institute and the British Heart Foundation Bristol Accelerator Award

Following a very rich and vibrant meeting last year, we are pleased to announce that the next Bristol Heart Institute (BHI) and the British Heart Foundation Bristol Accelerator Award Meeting will take place on 22 February 2024 at the Watershed. This will be a full day’s event from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

The event will be showcasing the breadth of excellent cardiovascular research on-going in Bristol. This will encompass presentations across basic science, translational and clinical research, and population health, including many presentations from PhD students and early career researchers.

Plenary speaker

We will be joined by Sarah Murray who will talk about “Who is the expert?  Observations from three decades of a patient-centred perspective”

Sarah Murray is passionate about patient care and putting the patient at the centre of all innovation and research. She is proud to be the Chair of the National PPI group for the BHF Clinical Research Collaborative based at Leicester University, the Chair of the NICOR (National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research) Patient Community Group, and the Lay Representative on the Executive of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery. She is a qualified solicitor with a broad range of NHS NED experience both at national and regional level and an erstwhile carer and supporter of her son. She is a beekeeper, fencing coach and dabbled in falconry!

Please register your place at your earliest convenienceTickets are without charge, but will help us confirm numbers for catering.  Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.  It is advisable to book parking in advance if needed. (JustPark or Parkopedia)

Bristol Heart Festival

We will soon release the date of the Bristol Heart Festival which is to be held in the autumn 2024 at the Watershed.
